Meiji Shrine Centennial
There were dancers, ceremonies, distinguished guests, and fireworks, but I missed them all. Unfortunately the celebration to commemorate the 100 year anniversary of the establishment of Meiji Shrine was smack dab in the middle of the coronavirus pandemic. The events all still took place, but I imagine the attendance was less than there would have been had there not been a deadly virus sweeping the globe. I did however go out one evening to see the various light displays. There were lanterns, paper sculptures, art pieces, luminaries, and colorful lights throughout the trees. Although there were still quite a few people in attendance that evening, they tried to keep their distance and everyone wore masks. It certainly didn't feel reckless and it was definitely worth the trip.
