Bee & Honey Cafe
You know I love ‘em—theme cafés. And apparently there is no end to the options, which include things like dogs, cats, raccoons, meerkats, birds, turds, and now BEES! That’s right, honeybees.
In Pyeongtaek, South Korea there is a cute little café called Bee & Honey that features…you guessed it, HONEY and by default the bees that make it. For everyone’s safety however, the bees are featured outside of the café. You can walk out and see the hives where they’re busy doing their work though. Inside the café they focus on the honey, lots of honey.
It is a café, so of course you can order drinks and snacks, many of which feature honey in some way or another. There were honey smoothies, honey iced teas, honey waffles, and honey ice cream, just to name a few. They have a big piece of honeycomb that they break into chunks to add to some of the dishes, like the ice cream (which had a hidden surprise of what looked like fruit loops in the bottom). They also sell a variety of other items like, bee pollen, beeswax items, and little containers of honeycomb.
They had seven types of honey that you could taste. You could then purchase your favorite by choosing from a variety of containers and filling it yourself at (what I like to call) the ‘honey bar.’ I didn’t realize that the various types of honey could taste so different. This was my favorite part even though I didn’t purchase any to take home. I’m not a big fan of honey personally and figured it would take me forever to use it. But fun fact—I learned that honey doesn’t go bad! It may be the only food that doesn’t spoil, so I guess it wouldn’t matter even if it did take me a year to use it.
